Do I need a referral for Physical Therapy?

No, you may not need a referral. In Alaska, you can go see a physical therapist without a referral. However, if you are using insurance, certain insurance companies require you to have a referral in order for them to pay for services. Some insurances that do not require a referral include: Aetna and other Aetna plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Federal BCBS, and Tricare Select. This is not a comprehensive list, so if you have questions, feel free to call our office staff.
